how it works

a guard, not a list.

pleamo checks the sites you open in the cheapest, fastest way that still keeps you safe. most of the time you'll never notice it. here's exactly what happens.

  1. 1 · known-safe sites pass instantly

the big, obviously-safe sites are on a local allowlist. they load with zero delay and never touch our servers.

  2. 2 · we remember recent verdicts

if we've judged a site recently, we reuse that answer. revisiting the same place, even a different page on it, is free and instant.

  3. 3 · our scam database

unfamiliar sites are checked against pleamo's own growing database of known scam and phishing domains.

  4. 4 · google safe browsing

next we check Google's Safe Browsing (a free, industry-standard feed of malicious sites) for a second opinion.

  5. 5 · the AI makes the call

still unknown? only then does the AI read the site and decide. this is the clever, careful part that catches brand-new scams no list has yet, and it's the only step that uses a "smart" check.

what we can see

the address of the site you're opening: the domain and the page path. that's it.

what we never see

what's on the page, what you type, your searches, your logins. anything after the ? in a link, where tokens and personal details hide, is stripped off before the address ever leaves your browser.

your history is a shield, not a leash

the only browsing we store is what we blocked or warned you about: so you can review it and tell us if we got one wrong. we don't keep a log of the safe sites you visit, because we don't need one and you wouldn't want us to. checks run only from your signed-in extension; there's nothing anonymous to sell, and we don't.

and you don't have to take our word for it: the extension is open source, so anyone can read exactly what it sends and what it doesn't. for people who'd rather not use our AI at all, it can even run on your own model, fully offline.
